BCS@Home is proud to offer new distance education options for families that want the flexibility of schooling at home, while still being supported by external teaching and guidance from BCS teachers. There are now three options for conducting distance education offered by BCS@Home: BCS Online, Print-Based Distance Education, and Shared Responsibility. Families who choose BCS@Home Distance Education will have the opportunity to achieve academic excellence under the guidance of a faith-based school board ranked in the top 2.7 per cent of all high schools in Alberta. BCS@Home Distance Education is unique from other online and print-based school options in Alberta, in that students in all facets of the distance education branch are welcome to join in all extracurriculars with the students at the BCS campus location, including sports tryouts, drama teams and chapel services as they choose. We are so excited to offer a way for families to experience the connectedness and flexibility of online school while being guided by the dedicated online teachers at BCS@Home.
BCS@Home’s new online program will focus on grades 7-12, with online classes taught by BCS@Home teachers. Students who choose the online option will experience faith-based education that fosters academic excellence, a community of learners and flexibility of time and space.
Shared Responsibility Learning
If you want to homeschool in the traditional format for certain courses, but are looking for a greater degree of educational support and involvement in others, you can opt for the shared responsibility program. This option combines distance education courses of your choosing with traditional home education.
Print Based Distance Education
Through this option, families can experience the flexibility of schooling at home for students in grades 1-6 while still benefiting from the hands-on guidance of BCS@Home teachers. Staff will provide students with the curriculum and materials by which the instruction and assessment takes place. Students will be able to regularly access the instructional expertise of teachers.
