Thank you for your interest in education at Bearspaw Christian School!

We are a discipleship-based Christian school committed to partnering with families who are actively growing in their faith and seeking a Christ-centered education for their children.

BCS has been blessed with growing enrollment for many years – at this time, BCS is at capacity for the current 2025–2026 school year, and we are no longer accepting applications. All grades currently have waitpools and movement from the waitpool depends on space becoming available.

Inquiries for the 2026–2027 school year are welcome. The below admissions process begins in September 2025.

Note: As a faith–based school, we require at least one parent to be a Bible–believing Christian who can speak to their personal relationship with Jesus Christ during the admissions interview.

Consultation & Campus Tour

Selected families will be invited for an in-person consultation and campus tour. These begin in early September.

This consultation is an opportunity for us to learn more about your family and what draws you to Bearspaw Christian School. You’ll have the time to talk about your child’s academics, your faith journey, for you to learn more about our discipleship-based approach to education, and how Christ is at the center of everything we do. We’ll also tour the campus and get a glimpse into student life and a day at BCS.

This meeting is a two-way discernment process: a time for you to consider whether BCS is the right fit for your family, and for us to prayerfully assess whether your family aligns with the mission and community of our school. We believe that the partnership between the school and the family is key to a successful experience, and we want to ensure that both parties feel confident moving forward.

3

Complete the Application

After the consultation:

  • Our Admissions Team will e-mail you a personalized application link.
    • Typically sent out late November, early December.
  • Carefully complete all items on the application checklist, including:
    • All required supporting documents per the application checklist, including but not limited to:
      • Student Vital Statistic Documentation (ie. Canadian Birth Certificate or valid Canadian Passport or Canadian Citizenship or valid Canadian Permanent Residence card and foreign Birth Certificate or valid Visa/Immigration documents with foreign birth certificate)
      • Assessments and/or Individual Program Plan (IPP) (if applicable)
      • Reference Forms
  • Submit $150 non-refundable application fee (per child)

Note: Applications are only considered complete once all steps are fulfilled.

Completed applications will be reviewed by our Admissions Team to assess the student’s academic foundation, growth potential, and the family’s alignment with our Christ-centered mission, vision, and values.

Grades 1-12: Qualified applicants are placed in our Wait Pool. As space becomes available, the Admissions Team prayerfully considers each student and invites those who represent the best fit for the grade-level community to move forward in the Application Process.

4

Faith Interview & Student Assessment

Once the application is fully complete AND when classroom space becomes available, families will be invited to a Faith Interview and Student Assessment/Interview with school administrators. This is a vital part of our discipleship-based partnership as a Christian school and allows us to:

  • Learn more about parents’ personal journeys and relationships with Jesus
  • Discuss how your family and BCS can support each other in growing the next generation for Christ

On the same day, we will also schedule the following:

  • Elementary (Grades 1–4): Students will be invited to a one-on-one in-person learning assessment with a school administrator to determine grade readiness.
  • Middle & High School (Grades 5–12): Students will be interviewed by a member of our education team and may also take part in a learning assessment.
5

Admissions Decision

Our Admissions Team will review all components of the application, including the faith interview and assessment results. If accepted, you will receive an offer of enrollment.

6

Enrollment Registration

To confirm your child’s placement:

  • Submit all registration and payment forms
  • Pay the $5,000 capital fee/bond within 5 business days

If registration is not completed within 5 business days, the offer will be withdrawn and the student(s) are returned to the wait pool.

Consultation & Campus Tour

Due to limited space, selected families will be invited to an in-person consultation and campus tour, beginning in early September.

This consultation is an opportunity for us to learn more about your family and what draws you to Bearspaw Christian School. You’ll have the chance to hear about our Kindergarten program, our discipleship-based approach to education, and how Christ is at the center of everything we do. We’ll also discuss your family’s faith journey, tour the campus, and observe a typical day at BCS.

This meeting is a two-way discernment process: a time for you to consider whether BCS is the right fit for your family, and for us to prayerfully assess whether your family aligns with the mission and community of our school. At BCS, we believe that a strong partnership between school and home is foundational to a thriving school experience.

3

Complete the Application

After your consultation, our Admissions Team will send you:

  • A link to the online application form
  • An application checklist

Applications will be available December 1st and once received, should be submitted back to BCS within two weeks to ensure timely processing (recommended submission prior to December 12th) and to move forward to the next step.

To complete your application, you will need to:

  • Submit the $150 non-refundable application fee (per child)
  • Upload all required supporting documents listed in the checklist
4

Faith Interview

Once your application is complete, you will be contacted to schedule a Faith Interview with one of our school administrators (typically held in December or January, prior to Kindergarten assessments).

This conversation is an important part of our admissions process and gives us the opportunity to hear more about your walk with Christ, your involvement in a local church community, and your desire to raise your child in a Christ-centered learning environment.

5

Kindergarten Assessment

As part of the admissions process, your child will be invited to participate in a group Kindergarten assessment in late January (tentatively set for January 20, 21, 22, 2026). These sessions are designed to be friendly, play-based, and engaging, giving our educators a glimpse into your child’s developmental readiness for Kindergarten.

  • When and where do assessments take place?
    • Assessments will be held on-site at BCS during the school day. Assessment sessions will run between 90 to 120 minutes, with a small group of children participating together.
  • What will my child be doing?
    • Children will rotate through a variety of activity stations that help us observe different aspects of their development, including:
      • Fine and gross motor skills (e.g., balancing, cutting, threading, coloring)
      • Pencil and scissor grip
      • Early literacy (e.g., identifying letters and sounds)
      • Numeracy skills (e.g., recognizing numbers, basic counting)
      • Shape and color recognition
      • Following instructions and social interaction
  • Is any preparation needed?
    • No special preparation is required. These activities are developmentally appropriate and intended to reflect a typical Kindergarten day. A good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast are the best preparation.
  • Who conducts the assessment?
    • Our experienced Kindergarten teachers and early childhood staff will lead and observe the assessment sessions.
6

Admissions Decision

Our Admissions Team will review all components of the application, including the faith interview and assessment results. If accepted, you will receive an offer of enrollment within 2 – 3 weeks of the student assessment.

7

Enrollment Registration

To confirm your child’s placement in Kindergarten at BCS:

  • Submit final registration & payment forms
  • Pay the $5,000 capital fee/bond within 5 business days

Please note: If registration is not completed within the 5-day window, the offer will be withdrawn and your child’s name will be returned to the wait pool.

Existing Families

As a current BCS family, we are grateful for your ongoing partnership in raising children who know, love, and follow Jesus.

Because BCS has experienced steady growth across all grade levels, our school is at capacity for the 2025–2026 school year. This means all grades currently have wait pools and space becomes available only when an enrolled student withdraws.

While siblings of current students receive priority consideration, admission cannot be guaranteed. Some grades experience very little movement, and in certain cases the wait can extend over multiple years. The information below outlines how current families can apply for sibling enrollment and what to expect throughout the process.

1

Submit Intention to Apply

Beginning in September, current families may indicate their intention to apply for a sibling using the Current Families Adding a Sibling form. This link is provided in the BCS Connect Newsletter throughout September and October.

Submitting this form ensures you receive your personalized application link when the application window opens.

2

Complete the Application

In mid-November, families who indicated their intention to apply will receive a personalized application link by email.

To complete the application, please submit:

  • $150 non-refundable application fee per child

  • All required supporting documents, including vital statistic documents, report cards, reference forms, assessments, or IPPs (if applicable)

Applications are only considered complete once all required documents have been submitted.

Completed applications are reviewed by the Admissions Team. Qualified students will be placed in the Wait Pool for the grade applied for.

About the Wait Pool

  • BCS is currently at, or near to capacity in all grades. Spaces only become available when an enrolled student withdraws.

  • Because BCS operates on a continuous enrollment model, current families notify us of any withdrawals by January 31 each year.

  • From February through September, as openings arise, our team reviews the wait pool to determine the next steps for each applicant.

  • Wait pool timelines vary widely. Some families may receive an offer quickly; others may experience a wait of multiple years.

  • Siblings of current students receive priority consideration; however, priority does not guarantee acceptance.

  • When a seat opens, the Admissions Team evaluates all wait pool applicants with respect to class balance, composition, and educational needs.

3

Student Assessment / Interview

Beginning in February, and only when a space becomes available:

  • Elementary (K–Grade 4): Applicants will be invited for an in-person learning assessment.

  • Middle School (Grades 5–8) and High School (Grades 9–12): Applicants will be interviewed by a member of our Education Team and may also participate in a learning assessment.

Please note that not all students in the wait pool will be invited for an assessment in a given year, as assessments are scheduled only when a classroom opening exists.

4

Admissions Decision

The Admissions Team will review the full application, including interviews and assessment results.

If accepted, your family will receive an Offer of Enrollment.

5

Enrollment Registration

To secure your child’s placement, within 5 business days of the Offer of Enrollment being sent out, you must:

  • Submit all required registration and payment forms

  • Complete and submit the Financial Agreement

If the Enrollment Part B Application is not completed within that time frame, the offer will be withdrawn and the student will return to the wait pool.

Re-enrollment for Existing Students

Bearspaw Christian School has implemented an automatic re-enrollment process for existing students.

Currently, enrolled students are our first priority as we fill positions for the following school year. BCS will automatically re-enroll all existing students for the upcoming school year on the last business day of January unless we receive a Not Returning / Withdrawal Form from you.

If you have children that will not be returning to BCS for the upcoming school year, you will need to complete a Not Returning / Withdrawal Form. If you have any questions about our admissions process, the Admissions Team can be reached at 403-295-2566 Ext. 5751 or [email protected].
